Dear London, (Part 9)

With Beck Quee

A letter in the form of a Psalm. Based off Psalm 27…

The Lord is your light and your salvation, you don’t need to fear.

The Lord is your stronghold,

there’s no need to be afraid.

When you believe the wicked against you when the next District Line is 11 minutes away,

you will still find a way home.

Though the streets are full of people walking any which way, and they make you impatient,

Each is a heart that has the opportunity to find confidence in the Lord.

Although you are pulled in many directions - from Wembley, to Wimbledon, from West to East (if you so dare), from bus to zip car, anywhere your day may take you,

You can re-centre, dwell and remain in the house of the Lord, and find life right here.

Even when it’s pouring with rain, and the city as you know it comes to a standstill in the weather it supposedly knows best,

He will keep you safe in His dwelling;

He will hide you in the shelter of His sacred tent.

You will survive, even when surrounded by your enemies, as you walk out of Stamford Bridge after a loss to Tottenham.

You will speak again, you will sing again, you will be okay.

Amidst the voices of the millions of people in London, the Lord will hear yours.

Amidst the faces of the millions of people in London, the Lord will see yours.

Even though you’ve done wrong, even though you don’t deserve it, even though it can feel like you’re alone,

He will not turn away. He will not hide is voice from you, He will not hide His face from you.

God is your Saviour.

Though you are filled with people who have been forsaken, left behind, rejected,

the Lord will receive you.

May the Lord teach you His ways,

may He lead you on a path that doesn’t just get you by,

but leads you into complete freedom.

Though the world may sometimes seem against you,

though it can feel like people are anything but for you,

I will remain confident in this:

You will see the goodness of the Lord in your life. You will find redemption in Him.

Wait for the Lord;

    be strong and take heart

    and wait for the Lord.
